Dear Team Captains and Ride Participants
The Murray to Moyne Committee held an extraordinary meeting tonight to discuss COVID-19 and it is with great sadness that I inform you of our decision to cancel the 2020 Murray to Moyne Cycling Relay.
As a committee we feel we have a duty of care to our many volunteers, riders, support crews, and committee to reduce the risk of anyone contracting COVID-19 during our event.
We also understand the great pressure health services are under at the moment which directly affects many of our riders, including many Health Service staff members either participating in or assisting with the event. We also feel that as an event designed to support health services, we need to do our part in helping to reduce the bell curve of the incidence of COVID-19 too.
Given the uncertainty of the times we are in with this rapidly evolving situation the decision was made to cancel the event, rather than try to postpone it.
As a committee we will be back bigger and better in 2021 and will continue to work with our teams to support health organisations right across the state.
The committee has also agreed to a full refund of participants fees. The mechanism for this is to be determined and Team Captains will be notified in the next few days.
Thanks again for your teams support and look forward to 2021 – Dates will be published in the next full newsletter.
We will be sending out an E-mail to all participants tomorrow.
